Before Knee Surgery

berfore surgery.jpg

We feel that it is paramount that our patients understand the procedures that they may undergo. Many procedures are listed on the website that Mr Gupte has developed with his colleagues www.orthoconsent.com It is important that you feel adequately informed about the procedure, why it is required, any concomitant risks, which although not expected you should be aware of.

At risk of stating the obvious, we feel that operation should only be performed in patients who will significantly benefit, in whom the risks are as low as possible and where alternative management such as physiotherapy would not provide an adequate improvement of your condition on their own.

Often, before knee procedures in particular, it is important to maintain the bulk of your thigh and buttock muscles so that rehabilitation after the procedure is optimised. Please consult with your physiotherapist to explore possibilities of pre-habilitating prior to surgery. Many of the most common procedures are listed on the orthoconcept.com website.
